How does the calculator work?

  1. It takes your CIF value (or product price plus freight and insurance).
  2. It applies the duty rate for your product and origin: 0% where an FTA applies with origin proof, otherwise the MFN rate of the 10-digit line in Egypt's official tariff (NAFEZA).
  3. It charges VAT on CIF plus duty: 14%, or 5% for devices used to provide a service.
  4. It adds typical fees and gives you the cash needed before sale and the net cost after recoverable VAT.

What does the calculator not include?

EDA registration costs, lab tests (gloves, the first three IVD batches, instruments from non-reference countries), storage while samples are tested, and the margin needed to sell. It also cannot confirm your 10-digit HS line — a customs broker can.

Can I get the breakdown by email?

Yes — use 'Email me this breakdown' in the calculator to receive it as a PDF.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the landed-cost calculator?

It uses Egypt's official tariff by 10-digit line (NAFEZA and the Egyptian Customs Authority) and current VAT law. Your customs broker confirms which line applies, and fees are typical, not quoted.

Why is VAT charged on duty as well as CIF?

Egypt charges import VAT on the duty-paid value.

Which VAT rate applies to my product?

14% standard; 5% since 29 July 2026 for medical devices used to produce goods or provide services. Whether disposables and reagents qualify is not settled.

Is the import VAT lost?

For a VAT-registered importer it is credited against VAT on sales, so it is mainly a cash-flow cost.

Does the calculator include EDA registration?

No. It covers the shipment. Registration costs are separate — and funded by us on the UltraTeb Market Access model.

Which currency does Egyptian customs use?

Values are converted into Egyptian pounds at the Central Bank rate on the declaration date.

Don't want to pay the landed cost? You don't have to.

Zero upfront fees. We pay duty and VAT and fund the launch; you're paid when we sell.
