Download the landed-cost breakdown for Egypt

The PDF shows how a medical product's landed cost in Egypt is built: customs duty on the CIF value, then VAT on CIF plus duty, then fees. Its worked example: USD 20,000 CIF of syringes from China carries about USD 1,000 of duty (5%) and USD 2,940 of VAT (14%), while the same goods from Italy with a valid proof of origin carry no duty and USD 2,800 of VAT (official tariff, NAFEZA). It adds the rates for common medical HS lines, the 5% VAT rule for devices since 29 July 2026, the fees to budget and a blank worksheet.

What is inside the breakdown?

  • The formula: CIF value → customs duty → VAT on the duty-paid value → fees
  • How customs converts the CIF value (Central Bank rate on the declaration date)
  • Duty by common medical HS line, MFN and preferential
  • VAT: 14% standard and 5% for medical devices used to provide a service
  • Fees to budget: EDA import approval, customs service charges, CargoX, bank and clearance costs
  • Worked examples: the same product from a preferential and a non-preferential origin
  • What is recoverable and what is not, and the 1-year refund window for returned stock
  • A blank worksheet for your own product
