Questions & answers
What does the red colour code on a hematocrit capillary tube mean?
Colour coding varies by manufacturer. In many conventions red indicates heparinized, but this product is designated NE (non-heparinized/plain). Always verify the label before use.
Are these tubes suitable for paediatric blood samples?
Yes. Their small volume (~70 µL) makes them especially suitable for paediatric and neonatal samples, minimising the blood quantity needed for an accurate PCV reading.
How are micro-hematocrit capillary tubes used?
Fill the tube to approximately three-quarters of its length with capillary blood, seal one end with clay or a dedicated cap, then centrifuge for 3–5 minutes in a microhematocrit centrifuge. Read the packed cell volume using a hematocrit reader.
How many tubes come per pack?
Standard market packs contain 100 or 200 tubes per vial. Please contact UltraTeb's sales team to confirm the pack size available for this specific item.
