Port-a-Cath Huber Needle

Sterile single-use Port-a-Cath (Huber) needle for accessing a subcutaneously implanted venous port to deliver chemotherapy, IV fluids and parenteral nutrition, and to draw blood samples. Its non-coring tip preserves the port septum and extends device life, where a standard needle would core it. Stainless steel, French-origin, known in the Egyptian trade as 'Fransawi'.

What is a Port-a-Cath (Huber) needle used for?

Is this needle single-use?

Yes. Each needle is sterile, individually packed and for single use only. After use it must be disposed of in an approved sharps container in line with medical waste protocols.

What does 'non-coring' mean?

The tip is bevelled so it pushes the silicone septum aside instead of cutting a core out of it. That keeps the port septum intact and extends the device's usable life — a standard needle cores the septum and ruins the port after a few accesses.

Is it compatible with all Port-a-Cath devices?

It fits standard subcutaneously implanted ports, but gauge and length are selected according to port depth and patient build. Contact us to confirm the size required for your order.
